There are many different poses of Buddha and I’m no expert but as a guide:
If you are choosing a Meditation Buddha statue, the statue should face the in an easterly direction just as Buddha meditated on the sun rising during his search for enlightenment. The meditation Buddha usually has its eyes closed or half-way closed depicting a meditative state.
f you choose a Buddha with its right hand raised at shoulder height then it is said to represent a shield overcoming fear, representing the Buddha immediately following his enlightenment usually intended as a gesture of reassurance and protection.
